Is It True? Is It Necessary? Is It Kind?

One little girl in my closest circle currently tells me things she does not mean. E.g. "Go away, I don't want to play with you!" And 3 seconds later she is telling the complete opposite of that. Why am I telling you this?

Are you checking if it's true to what you are saying?

Do you take your time to slow down and check it?

Do you take it back if the answer is "No"?

Here is a great little checklist for what you say and write:

1. Is it true?

2. Is it necessary?

3. Is it kind?

If the answer is "No" at least to one of the 3 questions, maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid.

You can apply the same questions to challenge your thinking. And to work on it.

And you can apply it to your actions, asking if it’s true to your best self, to your values, and to your principles. If it’s necessary. And if it’s kind.

And you can also extend it to:

1. Is it true?

2. Is it fair to all concerned?

3. Will it build better relationships?

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

If you are looking for a little challenge, try it out.

If you are one of my clients and I shared this post with you, definitely try it out.

And see what difference it will make.
